Why are trials necessary?

Two recent stem cell trials are frontpage news across the world.

Should trials like the two recently approved be necessary or should we just throw caution to the wind and treat patients with anything?

Bush’s policy discouraged research and made it harder for companies like ours to persuade the FDA that the stem cells were safe and had the potential to help patients. Tissu medical directors have stated “Normally when the FDA gets an application for something brand new, they consult the published literature to find confirmation of the claims in the application”. In this case, the lack of research funding meant that academic scientists had published nothing on some types of stem cell treatments. This is why Tissu was given the green light to conduct trial treatments in the Seychelles so that all our results can be validated and used by the FDA to suuport further trials
